The Secret To Getting A Limitless Supply Of Motivation

As South Asians, none of us are strangers to the concept of community – it’s woven into the very fabric of our culture.

Our lives are filled with family gatherings, festive events, and community get-togethers. Whether you fully embrace it or not, community likely plays a significant role in your life.

But have you ever considered using that same sense of community to fuel your health and fitness goals?

I’m not saying you need to organise your entire neighbourhood into a fitness challenge, but surrounding yourself with a support system that shares your ambitions can make a huge difference.

Building or joining a community centred around your goals provides more than just accountability and a shared goal. It gives you a network of people who understand your struggles and celebrate your successes.

  • You’ll be encouraged to push through difficult moments because you’re not going through it alone.
  • You’ll learn from other people’s experiences.
  • You’ll find motivation on days when you might lack your own.

The power of community will push you, motivate you, and inspire you to go further than you ever thought you could on your own.

Finding a strong community is key to boosting your progress on your fitness journey.

Being in the company of like-minded individuals with similar goals changes everything.

We’ve seen firsthand just how powerful that connection can be inside our own incredible KMAKFitness community.

Something magical happens when you join a community where the behaviours you’re striving to make habits around are the normal and typical standards of your group.

When you don’t have a community around you, you have to work a LOT harder to make your new behaviours stick.

Is A Lack Of Accountability Causing You To Fail?

Starting your health and fitness journey is tough.

Doing it on your own? That’s a whole new level of challenge.

We all know that motivation ebbs and flows, and staying consistent with diet, training, and lifestyle is hard enough, even when you do have a level of support…

But when you’re going solo? The obstacles can feel impossible to pass.

The truth is…

Going it alone often leads to boredom and self-doubt. The lack of accountability means that nobody knows or cares if you give up, right?

Here are a few key reasons why the “lone wolf” approach often leads to struggles, along with some advice on how to counter those challenges:

Lack of accountability:

One of the biggest challenges of going it alone is accountability. Whether you miss your planned training session or take a prolonged break from your diet, it’s easy to convince yourself that “a couple of slip-ups won’t matter.”

The reality? Consistently taking the next right action is key to success.

So find someone to help you stay accountable, whether it’s a friend, coach, or an online community.

Having someone by your side will help you stay the course. It will even help you raise the bar!

Information Overwhelm:

The problem with health and fitness advice being everywhere, is that not all of it is accurate or helpful.

If you’re navigating this alone, it can be easy to get overwhelmed by conflicting advice. Particularly when you realise much of this advice is generic, and doesn’t take into account the unique needs of south Asians.

Rather than trying to sift through endless advice alone, let the professionals streamline your journey.

Expert advice or joining a community can help you cut through the noise and make informed choices instead of constantly second-guessing yourself.

No more wasted time means you hit your goals much quicker.

Fading Motivation:

Motivation doesn’t last forever, but for some reason – we kind of expect it to.

When you don’t have a community by your side, it’s easy to lose steam once the initial excitement wears off or progress starts to slow.

One of the most common areas we see inside KMAKFitness?

When people have been dieting a while… somewhere between 3 and 7 weeks…

They stop recognising their wins!

Things that they used to struggle with – they don’t find so tough. And so when they think about what progress they’re making, it seems like they aren’t making any.

Which isn’t true!

Lots of the time, the true value of a community is helping you to stay focused on just how far you’ve come. And that helps you to keep going!

We encourage our clients to focus their energy and attention on building healthy habits rather than relying on motivation.

We do this by:

  1. Setting small, achievable goals
  2. Rewarding ourselves for staying consistent

Going it alone may seem like a good idea at first, but this journey can be long and lonely. Help and support can mean the difference between success and failure.

When challenges arise, and they definitely will – it’s much easier to push through when you have backup. Having people to help you push through those tougher moments is a game-changer.

Having people to share your successes with is an incredible thing, too.

So, whether you seek out a community, a coach, or even just a training partner, remember this:

Fitness isn’t a journey you must walk alone – and in most cases, it’s better not to.

Make it a shared mission and finally get the results you deserve.

The steps to take before finding “your” community.

Finding a community outside of your close circle of friends and family isn’t always easy. It’s like stepping into a new social circle or starting a new job – it can feel overwhelming just thinking about it.

So, it can be hard to know where to begin to find a community that’s your perfect fit.

We get it. Here’s our best advice…

Define your needs:

What do you want from this community? Is it support and guidance? Are you looking for an environment that will push you to the max? Getting clear on your needs will help you gain clarity on the type of group you are looking to join.

Explore & enquire:

Explore groups that align with your needs, but don’t be afraid to ask questions so you can assess if they are actually the right fit for you. Your progress depends on getting it right, so take your time.

Be open to new experiences:

The community you envisioned might not be the one you end up with. Stay open to speaking to new people, trying different groups, and embracing the unknown. If you don’t find what you’re looking for the first time around, don’t settle. Keep looking.

Finding your perfect community is a process. It takes time, but it is so worth it. After all, it’s going to be the choice that determines your future health story.

We’ve helped hundreds of people just like you get exactly what they need from their fitness journeys.

So, if you are looking for a ready-made community that is proven to help individuals at all levels and in all walks of life, you might have just found your people…
